Her Fitness

Movement is fundamental to both our physical and mental health - but when did such a natural part of life turn into something so competitive?  Both of these Capricorns took long, meandering journeys to find a a type of movement that felt more like self-care and less like a chore.  (We’re looking at you, Bar Method!) Whatever makes your body feel most like you - we give you full permission to go do that thing.

Her Success

On this exact day in Christie’s 27th year of life, she was in a much different place, both personally and professionally, than Izzy is currently.  Are these accomplishments necessarily a metric for success? How do the perceived goal posts of life affect our perceptions of our own success?

Her Anger

Are ok? You seem angry. In this episode, Christie and Izzy try to figure out the pros and cons of “just letting it out.”  As their conversation goes on, they realize that they are unified in yet another commonality - their gross discomfort in sitting with anger.

Her Father

On this episode, your two favorite Capricorns unpack their relationship with Joe B. and BDR - their dads. Christie’s dad passed on unexpectedly shortly after FWSS launched, so it brings her so much comfort to unpack all the quirks that made BDR the great man he was (and still is in her heart). As Izzy described “Joe B.” (as he is called by EVERYONE), she reflects on all of the qualities that make him the most supportive and reliable man she knows. Both of these men share so many qualities - admiration from their daughters being at the top of the list of commonalities.

Her Nanny

Sometimes the generational perspectives between Christie & Izzy are subtle and other times, their phases of life allow them to bring entirely different views to eachother.  This episode is the latter.  As Izzy described her nanny experiences as lonely and rather depleting, Christie reminds Izzy that surrendering your most precious people to a stranger that may or may not become like family can be equally as challenging.  The stories they both share in this episode are nothing short of wild.  We can't wait to hear what you think about this one!

Her Feminism

After Izzy sees a Broadway play that sparks a rabbit hole of feminist reckoning, your favorite Capricorns reflect on feminism and equality the best way they know how - asking Christie’s 10 year old son.

Her Relaxation

“Alexa, what is relaxation?”

If you had unlimited time and resources - what would your ideal day of relaxation look like?  Christie hates massages and Izzy gets her kicks from graphing timelines and to-do lists; so must “relaxation” look like a pool floatie and a glass of wine?  Your favorite Capricorns are pushing back against traditional modes of kicking back in this week’s episode!

Her Forgiveness

Forgiveness seems to happen on a small scale for all of us every day.  In Christie’s world, the small acts of forgiveness toward her kids and her husband keep the engine of her family operating smoothly.  In Izzy’s world, she’s still learning to navigate the line between wiping a slate clean and a more nuanced kind of moving on.

But what happens when something painful occurs? — When a friend doesn’t show up for you in the way that you’d hoped?  Or when the trauma of old relationships haunts you in new relationships?  Can forgiveness be learned as we mature and grow older, or will some grudges last forever?

Her Hiatus / Her Mental Break(down)

Christie & Izzy let you in on their nearly seven-month hiatus from the From Where She Sits podcast and reflect on the challenges that resulted from sitting in some silence and solitude throughout their time apart.  Christie struggles to find meaningful connection in her friendships as she confronts the loss of her father, while Izzy questions her ability to find gratitude for the present moment.
